While watching Coming To America, there are a few non-diegetic, element of auditory setting sounds added to portray the quality of the apartment building they are being shown. When the landlord shows the tenants that there's only one bathroom that everyone shares, he opens the door and you can hear the sound of flies swarming in the bathroom, but they don't show any. When the landlord shows them the actual apartment, you can hear police sirens in the background to enhance how bad the neighborhood is.
